Comparison between steam tug and oil-electric tug in service of Long Island Ry.; considerable fuel saving is obtained in favor of oilelectric tug; curve sheet shows comparative horsepower, revolutions per minute of propeller, and speed of tows obtained from data collected on series of tests made with steam tug Patchogue and Diesel-electric tug Meitowax; Meitowax uses about 50 per cent fewer lines than any one of the steam-driven tugs.
