Duchess class cabin steamships are largest regularly to enter port of Montreal; length 600 ft.; service speed 18 1/2 knots; propelling machinery consists of two sets of steam turbines of latest Parsons' type, driving twin screws through single-reduction helical gearing and developing 20,000 s.hp.; steam for driving turbines will be provided by six water-tube boilers of Yarrow type suitable for working at 370 lb. pressure.
