Reports results of a number of tests made over a heavy grade section of N. Y. C. R. R. from which might be determined definitely the utility of the so-called locomotive booster, which consists of a two-cylinder auxiliary steam engine mounted on and exerting its power through the otherwise idle wheels of trailing truck. Results show possibility of dispensing with services of helping engines at ruling grades, etc.
