For commercial work airplane, large or small, has comparatively short range; unsuitable for transoceanic service; large flying boat has possibilities in overseas service but it will never compete economically with large airship; large rigid airship always supreme for long-distance transport, but will need expenditure of considerable private capital aided by State cooperation; results of Naval Committee investigations of inherent limitations of airplane.
