As extra aid to train operation in high mountain territory, Southern Pacific has installed train and wayside radio communication for 98 mi between Europe, Ore and Crescent Lake; installation includes nine fixed wayside radio stations interconnected with dispatcher's telephone train dispatching circuit; all passenger locomotives operating in territory are radio equipped, and 37 diesel freight locomotives and 51 cabooses.
