105 locomotives ordered by French railroads for Valenciennes-Thionville Line; 85 of them of Co-Co type and remainder Bo-Bo; four different methods employed for electrical conversion between 22,500-v single phase 50-cycle overhead wire and driving motors; line is 170 mi long; heavy mineral trains form large portion of traffic; max speed 37 mph for Co-Co, 65 and 75 mph for Bo-Bo for mixed traffic work.
