Italian government has made definite move in favor of electric propulsion by ordering two train ferries of 3500 tons each to be equipped with Fiat Diesel engines and Marelli electric generators of 4500 hp. at 100 v., and with Burmeister and Wain engines and General Electric generators respectively and two training ships of 3515 tons each, equipped with Tosi Diesel engines and Marelli electric generators of 1600 hp. in all and 220 v., and Fiat Diesel engines and General Electric Co., electric generators.
