Piper two-seater private plane with airframe of sandwich-construction using glass-fiber reinforced polyester, is undergoing test to obtain advantages of light weight, high impact and structural strength, processability, and economical fabrication; for light military aircraft, material has less reflectivity and is less easily damaged than aluminum; its main advantages for helicopter rotors are resistance to fatigue and corrosion.
