Early in formulation of supersonic transport concept, airlines represented by International Air Transport Assn (IATA) listed characteristics supersonic transport would have to show for commercial operation; IATA's recommendations are listed, followed by response of Sud Aviation-British Aircraft Corp development team; they concern external engine noise, runway strength, stability and control augmentation, service life, structure and material testing, descent and holding speeds, airport characteristics, prototype flying, supersonic flight simulators, interior design, standardization of parts, and aerodynamic noise.
