Dynamometer exhibited by Electro-Motive Div, General Motors, is electric loading device which enables testing of locomotives under full power through speed range from zero to 50 mph; traction motors, attached to axles of treadmill wheels, operate as generators while locomotive is being tested; this permits dynamometer wheels to be electrically loaded as desired; complete tests are made on dynamometer, and all relays are adjusted under simulated road conditions.
