Passenger and cargo ship Oriente for New York-Havana service of Ward line; length o.a. 508 ft.; depth molded to shelter deck 70 ft. 9 in.; designed load draft 26 ft.; gross tonnage 11,300; designed speed 20 knots; power plant consists of six-oil-fired water-tube boilers generating steam for turbines at 275 lb. gage pressure and 200 deg. fahr. superheat; there are two propulsion motors of synchronous induction type, direct connected to propeller shafts and having normal rating of 6250 hp. at 134 r.p.m. each.
