Vessel was 325 ft. in length, propelled by Diesel-electric machinery; refit with new machinery of greater power, and turbo-electric plant adopted; vessel cut in two and midship portion built in; new turbo-electric propelling machinery consists of British Thomson-Houston Curtis-type turbo-alternator of 2700-kw. output with speed of 3000 r. p.m., supplying alternating current at 1200 volts to three-phase enclosed, synchronous propelling motor developing 3300 s.hp. at 120 r.p.m., and giving ship speed of over 14 1/2 knots.
