Survey of organization of industry; supply facilities for engineering and shipbuilding are much in excess of present demand and even future prospects; remedial measures suggested; rationalization deserves earnest consideration; advent of oil fuel has had profound influence on shipping; there would appear to be very considerable economies to be obtained by use of high-pressure superheated steam plants; pulverized coal apparently offers possible increase in efficiency. Abstract of presidential address before North-East Coast Instn. Engrs. and Shipbldrs. (See also Engineer vol. 150, no. 3903, Oct. 31, 1930 p. 492)
