Test run of five round trips between Kansas City, Mo., and Birmingham, Ala., making total of 7350 mi.; object of test, apart from trying out endurance of locomotive, was to determine feasibility of abandoning subdivisional roundhouses; cylinders 27 by 32 in.; driving wheels 63 in.; weight on drivers 269,300 lb.; weight total engine, 349,880 lb.; tractive force, with booster 74,500 lb.; statistics of test run are given.
