Passenger comfort must be given highest priority on vehicles designed for express services or touring; seats need to be heavier, with deeper and wider cushions to provide greater comfort on long distance journeys; they should be styled to give impression of separate seats, even though they are built as one; footrests are essential; although headrests are standard in almost every coach, their value is debatable; they are little used and obstruct vision; desirability of arm rests is open to different interpretations; they can be incorporated without difficulty; rest on gangway side is definite asset.
