New type of deck loaded log barge, developed for west coastal waters of United States and Canada, permits haulage through unprotected waters, secures cheap unloading cost, and faster haulage than rafts; barges are designed with series of water ballast tanks on one side; water admitted into tipping tanks causes barge to list and logs to slide off; information is also given on use of Davis raft, open and decked barges.
