Review of methods of determining traction; study made to determine if backlog of data on hand could be used to derive equation to calculate level road traction requirements; basic formula to compute loading for constant speed, level road operation gives reasonable agreement with experimental values; variables encountered, different ways of obtaining them, and their correlation with equation for computing traction requirements shows application of formula to various car dimensions and temperature/air resistance conditions.
