Research program on low-speed aerodynamics as applied to STOL and VTOL aircraft conducted by Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory; paper presents experimental data on airfoil maximum lift in 2-dimensional shear stream and theoretical studies devoted to explaining these results; experimental data showing destalling phenomena are discussed, and results of theoretical studies presented to illustrate effects of shear on airfoil stall.
