Design studies conducted by Vertol Div, Boeing Co, on helicopter and V TOL transmission systems led to conclusion that high-speed mechanical drive systems are superior to other forms of power transmission; application of results to 2-twin turbine helicopter transmission systems, 107-II and HC-1B Chinook, and test experience with systems presented.
