Cambridge Ferry of 3160 tons gross was built by Hawthorn Leslie (Shipbuilders) Ltd, has capacity for about 35 continental-type freight cars, and can accommodate road vehicles and containers; there is provision made for 12 passengers; length oa 380 ft, breadth molded 58 ft 6 in., depth molded to main deck 19 ft and to upper deck 35 ft, draft 11 ft 3 in.; each of two 7-cyl Mirrlees National engines has maximum continuous rating of 1860 bhp at 400 rpm, with corresponding propeller revolutions at 200 rpm.
