Methods of deriving useful values of basic parameters from traffic measurements made at fixed point are analyzed to indicate importance of choosing method of averaging with constants appropriate to particular objective, i.e. whether long-term or short-term effects are of primary interest; effect of using different constants on magnitude of "weighting factors" is shown.
