Design considerations require knowledge of structural response to load and of launch loads which involves shell buckling, stress analysis, panel flutter, noise, vehicle response to horizontal winds, vibrations, dynamic modeling, and study of new configuration concepts; latter requires expanded viewpoint including more elements of vehicle system, fuel slosh, control frequency, and their relationship to lateral vibration modes; new concept of scalloped tank which provides baffling by means of radial webs which act also as structural tension members.
