Revetments are sloping walls for coastal protection which solve same problem as vertical walls, but absorb wave energy instead of reflecting most of it, creating extra turbulence and thereby erosion; different types of revetments used in Holland, Great Britain, Germany, and United States, are described; factors which should be considered in design criteria for interlocking blocks revetments are given.
