Paper extends previous analysis (see Engineering Index 1963 p 2027), of two-dimensional (or coplanar) orbital transfer to three-dimensional space, by use of orbital hodograph; basic equations for three-dimensional transfer are formulated in terms of three hodograph parameters and angles of intersection between transfer orbit plane and initial and final orbit planes; transfer orbit solution requiring minimum total velocity increment is shown to be real root of eighth-order polynomial equation with constant coefficients.
