Method is presented for determining critical side range away from satellite's ground track; examples of satellite operations involving critical side range are given; relation is developed for fraction of parallel of latitude which can be covered by satellite with given side-range capability during single revolution in its orbit; some methods of using relation to evaluate coverage capabilities of satellite systems are presented; applications of methods and numerical results for some applications are shown.
