Design and construction of ballast cleaner developed by Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe; machine is of on-track type and is designed to clean shoulder ballast and that in intertrack space in double-track territory; it is mounted on specially-designed all-steel car and is drawn by locomotive when in operation, being pulled at speed of 2 to 2.5 mi per hr; method of operation; performance to date.
