Piston inclination and lateral movement during combustion process have been visually observed as major factors influencing cylinder lubrication; results of studies confirm existing theories on cylinder lubrication and also reveal facts about oil film behavior previously unknown; two new photographic techniques, using scattered and fluorescent lighting, make possible these disclosures.
