By term air navigation is meant transoceanic or long range flight without use of radio ranges, markers and other U S Continent radio navigational facilities provided for short range operations; attempt made to catalog instrumentation already in existence and contemplated; navigator's place in flight crew discussed; growing importance of meteorological information and of its utilization in more efficient operation of any given flight is briefly described.
