Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad has found that thin asphalt coating, impregnated with sand, spread over plank platforms used for heavy trucking or foot traffic, will increase service life of plank from two to three times, depending on conditions, and also offers number of other advantages; description of coating employed and of method of its application.
