U S Army is considering four-category system of trucks for Field Army, namely, Military Hi-mobility Tactical, Military Tactical Standard, Quasi Military, and Commercial Administrative Types; proposed system of four categories of vehicles for each payload class can be very effective if properly implemented; current XM-series might be high mobility type; current M-series standard tactical type; demilitarized version of M-series would be quasi-military type; and regular off-the-shelf commercial vehicles would be administrative type; suggested features of four-category truck system are tabulated.
