High speed highway systems call for improving ride when tandem axles are included in drivetrain system; evaluation of tandem axle suspension systems is presented; principles which have to be considered comprise universal joint operating angles, support mounting characteristics, propeller shaft runout and balance, concentricity of output and input shafts and their support flanges, slip spline construction and resulting forces, handling and shipping, and service and maintenance instructions.
