Combustion heaters, used in coach and railcar operation, and on aircraft can be specified to run on gasoline or kerosene, dependent on fuel used by particular vehicle; larger units give outputs of up to 100,000 BTU/hr on full load, with low output of either 60,000 or 50,000 BTU and can deliver 440 cu ft of air per minute with temperature rise of 128 C; examples of various heating systems; work carried out on exhaust boilers by Bristol Commercial Vehicles to obtain source of heat for coach heating from waste heat of engine; development of direct exhaust-gas heat-exchanger is urged as product of development work being carried out by gas-turbine manufacturers.
