143 nondriving motor cars are being constructed by Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Co, and Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Co; 82 existing trailer cars are being converted to driving motor cars by former firm; trains arranged for operation in formations of six or eight cars; driving cabs are provided at both ends of 6-car formation; car body design; lighting equipment; air operated door equipment; new tube car design.
