"Cross over point" between performance curves of turbojet and turboprop occur at medium ranges, turboprop giving greater economy at long range; its adaptation, coincidently with rise in cruising speed and in operating altitude and steady increase in size of transport aircraft, presents new problem and amplifies some of old ones; nature and relative importance of these problems reviewed.
