First ocean-going tank ship designed for sole purpose of transporting propane and other liquefied petroleum gases; completed for Warren Petroleum Corp, Tulsa, Okla; it is converted CIA dry cargo ship constructed in 1943; turbine propelled by single screw; length oa 412 ft; beam 60 ft; draft 23 ft 6 3/4 in.; displacement 11,085 tons; conversion involved installation of 68 steel tanks, to withstand pressures in excess of 250 lb per sq in.; safety devices, etc.
