Fiat stabilimento Grandi Motori have prepared plans for re-engining ships to give service speed of 11.2 knots, with engine requiring no more space than original plant; engine is Fiat single acting, 2-stroke, 6-cyl, unit with 680-mm diam and stroke of 1200 mm, developing 3400 bhp at 123 rpm; originally propelled by 3-cyl, reciprocating steam engine developing 2500 ihp at 76 rpm and giving speed of 10 knots.
