Investigation to determine aerodynamic characteristics of hulls which differed only in amount of step fairing; hulls were derived by altering step and afterbody of conventional flying boat hull having transverse step; hulls with step fairing, thought to be hydrodynamically acceptable, had up to 18% less minimum drag coefficient than conventional hull or planing tail hull with large pointed step.
