It is necessary to decide whether to employ Roots blower type or centrifugal types; in adapting engine itself, certain difficulties may arise, such as: engine block, connecting rod and main bearings, pistons, rings, and gaskets must be able to withstand higher outputs and temperatures; oil temperature must be kept low enough to prevent oil deterioration; distributor and carburetor must operate at predetermined curves with great accuracy; etc.
