Investigation carried out by B. Storsand of Oerlikon, Switzerland; in "Electrogyro" system vehicle is driven by energy stored in rotating flywheel; to operate vehicle, motor is disconnected from mains and driven from flywheel as generator, stator being excited by bank of capacitors; with flywheel of 1 ton, 10-ton rail car can be driven from 6 to 10 mi on one charge, and 25 ton load hauled 5 or 6 mi.
