There are many poor features in chassis and body designs which represent problems of accessibility and maintenance and which could have been eliminated during drawing and development stage; some examples are given relating to hood, automatic chassis lubrication pump, etc; good example of improvement in accessibility achieved by customer-manufacturer liaison is on Leyland Atlantean, where change from fixed mounting bracket to removable one allows gear box to be removed without disturbing engine.
