After 3 fares increases within 4 yr there was considerable passenger resistance to higher charges, considered by Malmo City Tramways, Malmo, Sweden; 2 opportunities for making economies were in elimination of conductors, and in cutting down of number of people working in cash offices, on counting money and in analyzing receipts; considerable economies, necessary to avoid further fares increases resulted from adoption of one-man buses, 9-rides-for-price-of-8 system, and simplification of cash-office procedures; details of procedures, Almex ticket-issuing machine and change-giving unit employed.
