Development of electric motor trucks and their performance over past 30 yr; typical applications of recent diesel-electric units; advantages include higher horsepower capabilities, lower maintenance costs, superior dynamic braking and possible longer diesel life; disadvantages include greater overall weight, problems with truck washing, greater horsepower losses, higher initial truck costs and overheating of electric generators and motors; trolley unit should be limited to use on permanent haulage run.
