Westinghouse DEEPSTAR submersibles (Cousteau Diving Saucer, DEEPSTAR 4000, DEEPSTAR 2000, DEEPSTAR 20,000) are discussed with respect to their related family traits; these include small size for ease in handling, good maneuverability, excellent visibility, payload and speed characteristics; it is noted Deepstar 4000 has been certified as safe for Naval personnel use by U S Navy Ships Systems Command; Deepstar 2000 is currently configured as continental shelf and slope scientific research vehicle.
