Guidelines for design of caution and warning system are presented for complicated space stations, with emphasis on practical reliability aspects and special consideration for on-orbit test and checkout requirements; hazard analysis and determination of hazards, caused by malfunctions in hardware or man, or due to external causes; elements of system, hardware configuration, and test/checkout considerations; on-board checkout concept is introduced to keep "System Has Failed" risk below defined requirements; block diagram is shown to demonstrate interface isolation.
