Survey concerns unmanned spacecraft stabilization and control systems (SCS), though many of considerations are applicable to manned systems; trends in SCS requirements, SCS classifications and their specific capabilities and limitations; table compares five categories on basis of following criteria -- desired orientation flexibility and accuracy, attitude error rates and maneuverability, acquisition and reacquisition capabilities, performance during velocity-change, implementation complexity (weight, power, reliability), and cost, and SCS prelaunch test validity; five system categories and their typical constituents with respect to flexibility, accuracy, and other orientation capabilities are also compared.
