Procedure to improve upon assumed set of parameters so that, by repetitive use of correction formula, monotonic decreasing sequence of values of positive definite function that measures terminal errors is produced; direction of correction vector is found to lie between directions given by gradient and Newton-Raphson procedures; procedure is successfully applied to determination of both planar and nonplanar fuel-optimal trajectories for space vehicle which is launched from surface of moon and required to rendezvous with space vehicle in circular orbit.
