Problems considered are to navigate a ship between two ports at least expenditure and to hold designated route in inland sea or in bay; completely automatic control and improvement of maneuverability by subsidiary automatic means are taken into account; full-scale measurements were made on Florida Maru, and these are discussed as well as optimum design of autopilot, etc; sample calculations for Series 60 hulls are included.
