Basic types of TV observations system are AVCS (Advanced Vidicon Camera System), and APT (Automatic Picture Transmission) system; in former, television pictures are stored on tape and transmitted on command to specially-equipped ground stations, while in APT system, each picture is transmitted immediately after it has been taken, and is receivable by any ground station within range at that time; reference is made to NASA report entitled "Constructing Inexpensive Automatic Picture Transmission Ground Stations SP-5079; contents of report are summarized.
