State-of-art is surveyed together with theoretical considerations limited to idealized signel-degree-of freedom systems; servocontrol systems for use as active isolator mechanisms are reviewed with emphasis on active isolation systems; performance characteristics of mechanopneumatic and electrohydraulic isolation systems are discussed and compared to those of conventional passive isolation systems; experimental data demonstrate performance characteristics of active isolation systems in aerospace applications involving protection of missile inertial guidance platforms during launch and jet aircraft pilot during severe turbulence encounters.
