Paper describes series of experiments designed to locate site of catalytic action and to elucidate its mechanism of action; by measuring strand burning rates of variety of propellants, it was shown that catalytic effectiveness increases at higher pressures; coprecipitation of iron-containing catalysts into ammonium perchlorate did not make catalyst more effective than adding catalyst to binder; other findings and conclusions based on rate studies of stable propellant combustion.
